How does salary change with experience?
Steeply, and without requiring a degree: the published bands roughly double from the entry floor to the senior ceiling. These are bands from the sources named, not a curve we fitted.

What do technicians earn by market?
The big three US data center markets each read differently, and in two of them the aggregators disagree with each other by twenty thousand dollars or more for the same title. That spread is worth more to a candidate than any single average: it is the reason to check postings, not aggregate pages, before anchoring a negotiation. Smaller markets generally read lower, and so does their cost of living.

What shifts the number: premiums and overtime
Shift choice is the fastest lever a technician controls. Nights and weekends carry published differentials, overtime is routine during upgrades and deployments, and the combination is why two technicians on identical base pay can take home very different totals.

How much do critical facilities technicians make?
Meaningfully above general technician averages on the same aggregators: Glassdoor lists the facilities-technician title at $110,491 against $67,894 for the general title (2026). Treat that as adjacent-title evidence rather than a like-for-like premium: the two samples differ, and averaging them into a "CF differential" would manufacture a number no source states.
