The role
What the job actually is
Commissioning engineers prove the facility works before anyone trusts it with load. The work climbs a ladder: factory tests before shipping (L1), inspection on arrival (L2), start-up and pre-functional checks (L3), functional performance tests on each system (L4), and the integrated systems test (L5) where the whole building is failed on purpose and must recover.
Interviews test whether you think in that ladder: what each level assumes from the one before, what a script and a witness actually are, and what you do when a test fails. It is one of the sector's fastest-growing roles because every new build ends in commissioning.
