What does this mean for someone trying to get in?
The screen, not the job count, is the obstacle. When operators report multi-month fill times and an 85% screen-out rate at the same time, the industry is not short of applicants; it is short of applicants who arrive ready. Preparation is the one variable in these numbers a candidate controls.
- Pick one role and learn its vocabulary before applying. The screen tests fluency, not enthusiasm.
- Trades transfer: electrical, HVAC, mechanical and controls backgrounds map onto the hardest-to-fill roles above.
- Liquid cooling is the accessible corner: high demand, published pay, and explicitly low barriers to entry.
